The postwar era has seen the rise of the Western Pacific region as the most economically dynamic part of the globe. Notwithstanding the many conflicts that have taken place in the thus region since a945, the overall political situation had encouraged trade, investment and economic growth. Today, this fact is even more evident, as the socialist countries – notably the People’s Republic of China and Vietnam – have come to accept the merits of economic inter-dependence.
