Reader’s Guide

In order to realize the maximum value of this publication, the publisher offers the following guidelines in interpreting the book:

  • The Philippines 8000 companies are selected and ranked based on their audited financial statements with fiscal year ending January 31, 2007 to December 31, 2007, as officially filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • The revenue figures from bank and other financial institutions include interest and non-interest income; figures for the insurance companies include premium and other investment companies.
  • The ranking of conglomerates is in a separate financial table. Member companies are evaluated and ranked as a separate legal entity from its ultimate parent company.
  • The data used in the “Top 8000 Directory” were obtained from the information provided in the financial statements.
  • The absence from the list of some of the companies, which would have been qualified based on the criteria, was due to the failure of said companies to file their financial statements on or before SEC’s cut-off date of April 30, 2008 or their financial statements have not been forwarded to the SEC Head Office.
