 About the Resource:

Merger and acquisition strategy tends to be selected by many Philippine banks as a tool to grow their business in terms of assets, deposit accumulation, capital, market shares, and several other strategic motives. Unlike those that occurred in the ’90s, mergers and acquisitions were noted as many as around five or six banks in a decade in the Philippines. Research of 19 Philippine banks during the past decade (1991 to 2000) was therefore conducted to further study the why” and “how” they adopted this strategy.
